Tired of the state of social media, non opt-out-able algorithms, and/or just miss when the internet used to be fun? Make your own site! It can be about whatever you want forever. Cool OCs? Special interests? Fanfic? Original writing? Neocities is your oyster, and all you need is some patience.
HTML may seem like a daunting monster to tackle, and while the learning curve is a bit steep, the good news is there's nothing you can't just look up how to do online. Odds are, if you have questions, someone's already asked and has gotten the answer to it either on reddit or tumblr. See something on someone else's site you think is cool? Look at their code (right click + View Page Source) and see how they did it. Just remember: it's always cool to drop credit!
